Because we want to acknowledge the skills of the asylum seekers, our project has been co-designed with three of them. Mahdi, Dawood and Aziz identified a need that they and the rest of the bunker inhabitants share: a nightlight that is effective for the user, but not intrusive to the occupants of the dormitories who wish to sleep.

As this light source has to be accessible to all the asylum seekers in terms of materials and fabrication, the mobile phones that everyone has were the perfect starting point.

Using discarded everyday materials found in the bunker, we developed a simple cover that can diffuse a mobile phone flashlight and transform it into a nightlight.

A subtle upgrade available to all!
